Here's my belly - FINALLY!

I thought I would NEVER start showing!  But finally, it looks like something other than a fat gut! 6 months.

Moving right along

I finally took the plunge and signed up for a prenatal class.  It's called Birth and Babies, offered through the Calgary Health Region.  I had heard good things about the class, mostly the networking you do with other moms.  I'm hoping to recruit some friends and family to come with me, so that I'm not the only single mamma.

I did some Kijiji shopping on the weekend -- which made NO sense, since money is very tight this month.  Anyway, I bought a diaper box full of adorable clothes, and a kick-ass stroller!  A couple friends highly recommended Valco strollers, so I was on the look-out for a reasonably priced one.  More than a few people have warned me about cheapo strollers.  My friend, Carolyn, bought three strollers in her son's first year before finally buying a high-end one.  I didn't want to go down this road.  Sure, the Graco travel systems are cute, but can the stroller really make it outside during a Calgary winter?  I think not.

Anyway, the Valco I got is a few years old but came with the car seat attachment that works with my (free!) car seat.  AND it just happens to match the car seat!  They look like they came together.

So I'm very poor until payday, but I LOVE my new purchase, and so do my fur babies:

A damn fine day

I had another prenatal checkup today, and everything is looking perfect!!  I've only gained a pound, which I thought was strange, but apparently, when you already have 'extra padding' you don't necessarily put on a lot of weight.  My doctor said that the real weight gain is in the last 13 weeks, that's when the baby starts to put on fat.  The heart rate was 154 - the same as last month.  My fears about not feeling movement were ruled out.  While trying to find the heart beat there were several 'bang' noises.  The doctor explained that those were kicks.  So I HAVE been feeling movement, it's just that I didn't KNOW it was baby.

Then I went shopping at Motherhood Maternity to use a gift card that my sister gave me for Christmas.  It was lots of fun because the saleswoman really helped me by bringing different things to try on, and searching for good deals.  I would have normally tried on 5-6 things, but when someone is bringing you armloads right to your changeroom, well you're more likely to try on a gazillion things!

I ended up with a pair of black dress pants for school, a sweater, and three blouses, for a total of $100.  One of the blouses was only $6!

Then The Children's Place was right next door, and everything on sale was an additional 40% off...so of course I had to get a couple of things...

On my way home, I stopped to pick up a parcel.  It turned out to be the Old Navy stuff I ordered back in Dec. when I found out I was having a girl.  I had sort of forgotten exactly what I bought, so it was nice to see all the cute deals I got.

Sooooo, way too much shopping for someone who is on a budget!!

Oh YEAH, I almost forgot about the sleepsacks!  The BabySteals deal of the day was 50% off on Halo sleepsacks.  I knew that I wanted to use sleepsacks, so I couldn't resist this price.  I got a small cotton one for summer, and a larger sized fleece one for winter.

I am a SUCKER for a deal!

I also signed up for a prenatal yoga class!  One of my pregnany friends, K, told me about it.  It's Sundays from 11-12.  Perfect!  I still get to sleep in, and it's only an 8 week commitment.  My first class is this Sunday.  I have NEVER taken yoga before, so this should be interesting!

I wish all my days could be as great as today!!  Not going to work really helped, too!
